Action Alliance, And The Unfolding Political Intrigues
By Iheme Kelechi 1 month ago
The last has not been heard of the crisis rocking the Action Alliance Party. The party which has a strong petition against the declaration of Ihedioha as the winner of the Governorship election in Imo state, has witnessed lot of sell-outs, political intrigues and power-play. There have been accusations, claims and counter claims from the different persons involved in the political drama. This might make one conclude that the party is about splitting into factions, though the visit of the newly installed Acting National Chairman of the party to Imo State has put lot of speculations to rest.
The Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar's visit to Imo State on a one day official solidarity visit was to re-assure the party faithfuls in the state that nomalcy has returned to the party. He used the occasion to inform them that following the suspension of the former National Chairman, Barr. Kenneth Udeze and the National Secretary, for gross misconduct, the party can now move forward.
Alhaji Abubakar maintained that the Party is focused, and determined to make a difference. He re-affirmed the support of the party to Ugwumba Uche Nwosu's "Petition", at the Election Tribunal, thus putting to rest the speculation by people, regarding the current status of the petition. Alhaji Abubakar used the occasion to call on the Judiciary to expedite action towards the petition of their candidate, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu.
The visit of Alhaji Abubakar to Imo State was neccesitated by the unsucessful attempt by the suspended former National Chairman, Barr. Udeze, to ridicule the credibility of the petition filed by the party's candidateRelated: APC "Big Gun" Odigie-Oyegun Blasts Oshiomhole, Tells Him To Give Gov. Obaseki Breathing Space . Addressing the mammoth crowd of party faithfuls at the party secretariat, he assured them that the party has not lost focus or direction in terms of pushing the petition to a logical conclusion.
Analyzing the unfolding political intrigues in the party, one will certainly end up with the assertion of possible sell-out and factions, among the rank and file of the party leadership at the National. But one fact was made clear with the visit of the Acting National Chairman, which is, the party has no faction, no disunity anymore, as normalcy has returned to the party, and the party has not withdrawn their petition at the tribunal, thus Action Alliance is 100% in support of their candidate and his petition at the tribunal.
Similarly, during the resumed hearing of the petition at the tribunal on Tuesday, 18/06/2019, the embattled and suspended former National Chairman made an appearance at the tribunal but was loudly booed by party faithfuls in Imo State and was excorted out by the police, to avoid being physically assaulted.
Reacting, the State Chairman of the Party, Chief Elder Uchendu Anthony Ahaneku, added his voice that the members of the Party in Imo State are solidly behind the Acting National Chairman, noting that in him, they have strong confidence that he will never at any point in time, decide to mortgage the political future of the party. After the hearing on Tuesday, the matter was adjourned to Friday, for further hearing.
Conclusively, following the events at the tribunal on Tuesday, the Action Alliance as a party is fully in support of their candidates petition. But the ousted Barr. Udeze, who possibly may have sold out, is very much determined to scuttle the process and success of the petition. Whether his actions will be of any consequences on the final outcome of the petition, only time will tell.
