The Shepolopolo of Zambia beat Equatorial Guinea 5-0 to top the Super Falcons of Nigeria in their opening group B game of the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON) played on Sunday, November 18.
After the Super Falcons of Nigeria lost 0-1 to the Bayana Bayana of South Africa, Zambia knew a two goal victory will give them the lead in group B of the tournament. With that amazing display they are now first with South Africa second and Nigeria third. Equatorial Guinea sit at last.
Speaking after the game at the press conference man of the match winner Kundanaji said, "Gone are the days we were scared of Nigeria. This is not the old Zambia. We are wounded buffaloes."
The Super Falcons of Nigeria will aim to bounce back when they take on the Shepolopolo in their next fixture while South Africa take on Equatorial Guinea who replaced Kenya. Both matches will be played on Wednesday, November 21.
