Police And IPOB Trade Accusations After Fatal Assault On Nnamdi Kanu Lawyer's Home In Orafite, Multiple Left Dead On Both Sides (Video)

There is both blood on the ground and dust and smoke in the air in Orafite, Anambra state where alleged members of IPOB and the NPF have clashed again.
The group and the NPF have been at each other's throats for a while with both sides accusing each other of perpetrating acts of violence against each other.
Just on Sunday, the outlawed pro-Biafran group has raised the alarm over the supposed killing of two of its members in Arondizuogu, Imo State.
Then came the confrontation yesterday which was initially first reported by Femi Fani-Kayode who was lucky to miss the violence as he had been the guest of Ifeanyi Ejiofor,(below) one of Nnamdi Kanu's lawyers and the target of the NPF incursion.
This what Femi Fani-Kayode wrote:
" I was in Orafite, Anambra state yesterday with my friend, lawyer and brother Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor who happens to be Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's lawyer as well.
This morning as I was about to enter the Federal High Court in Lagos I received a phone call from him and he told me that his Orafite home had been stormed by the police.
He said a total of 4 people, including the young man that led me to his home from the traditional ruler's palace had been killed and that his family were badly brutalised and traumatised.
Ifeanyi Ejiofor buried his brother just four days ago, his family are still mourning and now this!
May God judge those behind it!
Since the call, he made to me this morning no-one, including his wife and children, have seen or heard from him.
I pray he is safe and well.
I was told that two policemen were also killed during the course of the raid.
I call for peace and restraint from all sides. The shedding of innocent blood is a great evil and I wholeheartedly condemn it
It is a terrible thing that has drastic, long-term and calamitous consequences for those that indulge in it and those that live and rule by it.
May the souls of all those that were killed this morning rest in peace and may God restore sanity and respect for human life to our country.
Those that rule by tyranny, brutality and the power of the gun shall not prevail.

However, the police in Anambra State has denied killing any IPOB members. Rather it is pointing fingers at IPOB in the death of two of its officers were killed during the incident.
According to the police spokesman in the state, Haruna Mohammed, ”the police went to effect the arrest of Mr Ejiofor after a formal complaint at about 11:30 a.m. yesterday accusing the attorney of abduction, assault and malicious damage of property when they were attacked by IPOB members”
“Following the report, police patrol teams led by the Area Commander, Oraifite, ACP Oliver Abbey mobilised and rushed to the scene in order to arrest the suspect who declined the police invitation.
“However, as soon as police arrived at the house, armed men suspected to be IPOB members descended on the Police, set ablaze one Patrol vehicle and attacked them with rifles and machetes.”
“As a result of the attack, two police officers, whose identities are being withheld ( till their family members have been duly notified), were killed by the suspected IPOB members while others were inflicted with machete cuts,” said the spokesman.
Mr Haruna further said that the injured personnel were rushed to the hospital for medical attention ”and are presently receiving treatment.”
“Consequently, the command deployed reinforcements from the State Headquarters comprising of PMF, SARS and Special Anti Cult Units in conjunction with the army/other sister agencies who cordoned off the area in order to fish out the culprits, while a joint patrol is still ongoing in the town to prevent further breakdown of law and order.”
The spokesman noted that some arrests were made during the operation but would not confirm if Mr Ejiofor was one of them.
“The Commissioner of Police, John Abang (above) , who is on his way to the scene, has vowed to bring perpetrators of this dastardly act to justice,” he concluded.
With the pending return of Nnamdi Kanu for his Mother's burial and the NPF warning both him and his members of the dire consequences, both sides seem to be extra edgy and one can only pray that they both show restraint and that some compromise is reached.
The Awareness will continue to monitor all developments regarding this incident and update all of our pages with any new developments.
