A Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday has granted a motion for the former Minister of Finance, Nenadi Usman, to get her seized passport back and be allowed to travel abroad.
Usman is facing N4.6 billion alleged money laundering charges, alongside the former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, as well as Yusuf Danjuma, the former Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and a company, Jointrust Dimension Limited
.
The defendants were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on 17-counts.
They had each pleaded not guilty to the charge and were granted bail.
EFCC had opened the case for the prosecution and was still leading witnesses in evidence.
Justice Mohammed Aikawa granted the motion on behalf of Nenadi Usman as prayed, and held that the passport is returned to court on or before January 15, 2020.
He adjourned the matter till January 23, and January 24, 2020, for the continuation of trial.
