The Nigerian anti a graft agency - Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced the implementation of the court orders as regards to the ruling delivered against jailed former governor of Abia state, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. The EFCC, on saturday 14th December 2019, stepped up their game by fulfilling the terms of court sentence passed on Senate chief whip.
According to a statement by the agency, they have begun marking all the properties belonging to him so as to recover the N7.65billion stolen from the Abia state treasury when he governed the state.
EFCC took the step so as to ensure that the properties were not sold out through proxies, or handed over to new owners.
Recall that Justice Muhammed Idris, on 5th December 2019, at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi Lagos, ordered that Kalu’s company, Slok Nigeria Limited, and all assets belonging to it be forfeited to the Federal Government.
